Vets for Freedom Letter to General Wesley Clark

Yesterday you appeared on CBS “Face the Nation” and made strong statements regarding Senator John McCain and his military service. Amongst other things, you claimed Sen. McCain “hasn’t held executive responsibility” and you criticized him because he didn’t command a “wartime [Navy] Squadron.”

Vets for Freedom Disolves Policy Board of Advisors

The influence of Vets for Freedom has been reflected by the individuals on our Board of Advisers, all of whom are instrumental in the political and academic debate surrounding the missions. Unfortunately, third party speculation has lead to a misunderstanding of the role the Board of Advisers play in the organization, and therefore, undo scrutiny and criticism of their role in Vets for Freedom. As a result, we have decided to dissolve the Policy Board of Advisers to prevent any speculation from third parties regarding the mission and actions of Vets for Freedom and Vets for Freedom PAC.

“Frank Sinatra Day” vs. Funding the Troops

Vets for Freedom urges leadership in Congress to stop the partisan gimmicks and fund those who are fighting America’s enemies in Iraq and Afghanistan. Soldiers and Marines are achieving undeniable progress on the ground in Iraq—and what does Congress do? It spends the final hours before Memorial Day recess passing this “critical” legislation:

Vets for Freedom Supports Revised GI Bill

Vets for Freedom urges Senate members to work together to pass a GI Bill that not only addresses the immediate need for increased financial and educational benefits, but that also takes into account the unique dynamics of today’s all-volunteer force. The US military is working hard to increase its ranks in order to meet strategic needs across the globe; and as a result, it is imperative that recruitment and retention are both addressed as part of any GI Bill.
